Mark joined ABB in 2021 as Vice President for Global Strategic Partnerships at the Smart Buildings Division. Before that he worked for OSRAM Licht AG and Siemens AG in various leadership, business development, portfolio management and marketing roles. Mark holds a master’s degree in Communications, Economics and Politics from Ludwig-Maximilians University, Munich. Mark is based closed to Munich. 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞 The evolution of Smart Home(s) to holistic (energy) Smart Properties and-Communities 𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬 Holistic, connected smart residential building automation solutions addressing the needs multi-dwelling, mixed-use- and large properties All smart home and building automation systems for residential use where initially designed for single residential homes. That being said these systems usually do not address the specific needs of multi-dwelling-, mixed-use-, and large properties but are even contra productive from a property developer or property operator point of view. As for these applications you need a holistic and connected system that the operator can also manage remotely, and which allows data transfer from the single apartment or villa to the overall property management system and vice-versa instead of creating a lot of closed black boxes. This is getting even more important with the increasing need to save energy and developing carbon zero and energy independent properties. Here the smart home system and the connection to and between all devices and appliances in every single unit is key to identify the current energy demand, predict the future demand and manage the demand including the use of AI. With the final target of holistically connected, energy-smart and energy-independent communities – driven by a new joined solution by ABB and Samsung Electronics.
